Free guide service

Nara SGG Club offers free in-person walking tours in Nara with local volunteer guides for foreign visitors in Nara, Japan.
Nara SGG Club is an authorized organization by Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO).
We can help all tourists enjoy sightseeing at the World Heritage sites in Nara.

Guide Fee : Free of charge.

Other Expenses : Please kindly cover your guide’s expenses, including transportation fees between home and the meeting place, lunch, and admission fee(s), if charged.

Language : English (for other languages, such as French, Spanish, Chinese and Russian, please contact us).

Availability : Daily from 9:00 – 17:00

Online Guide Service

We also offer you free online tours of Nara through ZOOM, showing photographs taken specially for these online tours. Make the most of this opportunity to have unforgettable experiences on Japanese culture and history, by virtually visiting scenic spots in our ancient capital of Japan.

Conditions

－Some conditions to be noted－

  1. We accept applications on a first-come basis and depending on the availability of our volunteer guide.
  2. Please submit your application at least three days in advance, kindly with enough time frame of 4-5 hours in total, so as to decide the tour-starting time between you and your guide(s), after considering the time difference. Our online tour will last about 1-1.5 hours. Japan Standard Time (JST) is GMT (UTC)+9.
  3. Our service is mainly offered in English (please ask us about the availability of other languages).
  4. Any requests related to for-profit tourist business will not be accepted.
  5. We are sorry not to have a guide service during the year-end and New-year holidays (December 29th to January 3rd)．

Interpreter Service

We can help you as volunteer interpreters on various occasions ranging from international exchange events to everyday communication. It is our great pleasure to work as mediators between different cultures.
